IMU offers a 4-year doctorate level Medical Doctor (M.D.) degree through a 12-trimester program, each trimester totaling 14-16 weeks of academic or clinical study. Modeled after the US system of education, the first 6 trimesters are didactic study at our Medical Center and College in Belize. The remaining 6 trimesters are clinical rotations in the student’s home country or at IMU’s sites in the United States of America. One of InterAmerican Medical University’s strongest qualities is that students gain clinical exposure through Bethesda Medical Centre (BMC), our full service hospital and pharmacy. They will have the opportunity to participate in patient care and will be exposed to a wide variety of medical and surgical conditions, including tropical medicine. Built in the mid-1980’s, BMC is rapidly becoming one of the best equipped medical centers in Belize. We have a network of physicians and clinics in Belize and throughout the world. Medical education classes at IMU are taught by professors from North America, South America, Central America, Asia, India and Europe. All classes are taught in English, but many of our professors and staff are multilingual WHY CHOOSE IMU?
